Barcelona Festival of Song

Our History

Our History: More Than Two Decades of Music and Legacy

For more than two decades, the Barcelona Festival of Song® (BFOS) has brought singers, collaborative pianists, composers, musicologists, voice teachers, and audiences from around the world to Barcelona to discover the depth and diversity of Latin American and Iberian art song.

In 2026, BFOS celebrated its 22nd edition. In 2027, the festival begins its 23rd edition, continuing a history built through performance, research, education, cultural exchange, and the creation of new vocal music.

Since its founding, BFOS has offered far more than a summer program. It has become an international meeting place where artists encounter rarely performed repertoire, develop new interpretive perspectives, and form professional and personal connections that continue long after the festival ends. Its history includes hundreds of performances, masterclasses, lectures, premieres, commissions, and collaborations with composers and poets.

Every edition has created its own constellation of voices, stories, discoveries, and friendships. Together, they have helped expand the place of Latin American and Iberian music within the classical vocal world.

This page is a visual archive of that journey. Explore the posters from each edition and photographs capturing the performances, learning, intensity, and sense of community that have defined BFOS since its beginning.

Discover more than two decades of music—and become part of the story that continues in Barcelona.
