We have great news! From 2012 the Barcelona Festival of Song its extending is influence to Brazil. This means that students located in São Paulo, Brazil will be able to actively participate in 3 sessions of master class as well as in one concert.

This is possible thanks to the Internet2.  Internet2 is a member-owned advanced technology community founded by the nation’s leading higher education institutions. An exceptional partnership spanning U.S. and international institutions who are leaders in the worlds of research, academia, industry and government, the Internet2 community is developing breakthrough technologies that support the most exacting applications of today—and spark the most essential innovations of tomorrow.

The Barcelona Festival of Song´s partner that makes this possible is the Anella Cultural, a Catalan project lied by the Generalitat de Catalunya whos goal is to establish ways of cultural exchange and to contribute to innovation in education. Another important partner that contributes to this initiative is the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya, ESMUC.

Thanks to the infrastructure offered by the Anella Cultural, we will be able to reach students in Brazil and for the first time we will have sessions in which students and faculty are simultaneously working in real time in Barcelona and São Paulo. We will be exchanging knowledge and making music at the same time in both countries. This is a pioneer project of innovation starting in 2012.

In Brazil we count with the contribution of Dr. Martha Herr teacher of the UNESP (Universidad Estatal Paulista) and the Centro Cultural São Paulo a government owned institution who is the one providing the Internet2 infrastructure in Brazil.

The Master class sessions that will be broadcast using the Internet2 technology will take place during July 4, 5 and 6, 2012. If you are a voice student located in São Paulo and would like to participate in the Barcelona Festival of Song 2012 you have to register.

We are very happy because our former students are presenting concerts dedicated to the Latin-American and Spanish Vocal repertoire around the world. For us this is a way to measure the success of our program and the impact we are having in the promotion and preservation of the repertoire for future generations.
