In 2010 the BFOS in conjunction with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá sponsored the Vocal Works competition. It should be a work for voice and 5 instruments with poetry by Ibero American composer. The winner was composer Fabian Roa who wrote the song cycle Balada del tiempo perdido with text by Colombian poet Leon de Greiff.
